Gorge On Dark Chocolate Without Guilt!

Chocolates are good for health. This is no promotional gimmick. This is a recommendation given by medical experts who have evidence that dark chocolate is beneficial for health. And mind you, it’s DARK chocolate, no other one, please!

Still can’t believe it? Well, take a look at the benefits of dark chocolate and you will find yourself rushing to the store to get a bar!

Benefits Of Dark Chocolate
• Dark chocolate contains antioxidants, which are good for your body. They remove free radicals that are responsible for premature ageing. So, eat chocolate and remain young!
• Unlike white chocolate, dark one is made up of around 70 per cent cocoa solids and very little or no sugar. Therefore, it is less vulnerable to heat.

• Studies have shown that dark chocolate plays a role in lowering bad cholesterol and alleviating the risk of forming blood clots.
• Dark chocolates are loaded with these benefits due to the presence of flavonoids in them. Flavonoids are ketones that are also present in seeds, stems, and leaves of many plants. These flavonoids constitute a category of antioxidants known as polyphenols, which can also be found in tea, red wine, and certain vegetables and fruits.
• Medical research has estimated the level of polyphenol antioxidants to be eight times more in dark chocolate than in strawberries!

But…
Don’t eat dark chocolate with milk! Otherwise the benefits are mitigated. This also holds true for dark chocolate that contains milk as one of its ingredients. According to researchers, the milk molecules stick to the epicatechins and do not allow the proper absorption of flavonoids into the body. So, what we are talking about here is the pure thing – no milk, no sugar.

The Debate
Before you bring home a stock of dark chocolate bars, let me tell you that not all medical experts are happy with the trend of eating dark chocolates for health. There are issues about the probability of getting migraine attacks by consuming dark chocolate. There is no evidence yet to support this belief. Hmmm…

Moderation Is The Key
Everything in excess is poison; so is dark chocolate. However, taking 50 grams of this dark temptation, comprising of 70 per cent cocoa solids, causes no harm. And if you include some more calcium, iron, and potassium in your diet, then it’s truly healthy.

So, the next time you indulge in pure sin, don’t feel guilty about it!
